PURPOSE:To improve the lubricity and wear resistance of a magnetic recording medium by making a magnetic layer contain a specific organic silicone compound as a lubricant. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic layer is made to contain a fatty acid ester-modified organic silicone compound which has a fatty acid ester residual group, superior in affinity with a binder, in a principal chain or in the principal chain and at both its terminals as shown by the right general formula [where R1 and R2 are -CH3 or -R3COOR4, R3 and R4 are hydrocarbon groups of C1-C26, (n1), (n2) and n1+ n2 are 0-1,000, 1-500, and <=1,000]. |
