The present invention relates to a slating support 1 made from a flat, impervious, rigid material, forming a technical part of the roofing and intended to support at least one roofing element 7 of an identical format or a sub-multiple of the said support, and constituting the visible aesthetic part of the said roofing. It is characterised in that the support is pre-machined with a single hole 2 situated in the axis to receive a slating hook 3 for fixing to the adjacent lintel 6. The invention, which also relates to the roofing method, makes it possible to reduce substantially the cost of the roof by reducing the number of lintels 7 and hooks 3 - 4 which are required, as well as the marriage of the roofing materials used depending on whether they can or cannot be seen from the outside of the roofing. <IMAGE>
