PURPOSE:To permit an ink cartridge to be used as such in conventional ink supply devices by a method wherein, in the ink cartridge provided with an ink chamber for storing ink and an ink supply passage arranged in communication at one end with the ink chamber and having at the other end an ink supply passage capable of being opened, a porous member and a fiber-bundled member are provided in the ink supply passage and the ink chamber. CONSTITUTION:An ink cartridge 40 is provided with a resin-made housing 41 having a U-shaped cross section and an ink chamber 42 for storing ink and an ink supply passage 43 for conducting the ink from the ink chamber 42 to outside are formed inside the housing 41. The ink supply passage 43 communicates at one end with the upper part of the ink chamber 42 and opened downwardly at the other end. The ink chamber 42 and the ink supply passage 43 are filled with an ink-impregnated porous member 44 and fiber-bundled member 45. The ink chamber 42 and the ink supply passage 43 are provided with a plurality of projections, i.e. ribs 46, on their inner wall. An air introducing passage leading from outside to the ink chamber 42 is formed between the housing 41 and the porous member 44 by such a plurality of the ribs 46. This air introducing passage is in communication with the opening of the ink supply passage 43. |
