This invention relates to an electronic tourist guide device. It guides the tourist, by showing him the journeys previously recorded for a given metropolitan town. The invention is designed around a microprocessor with a keyboard and a liquid crystal or diode matrix display system. Plug-in cards of magnetic or chip type are provided. These cards include the information relating to the town in which the tourist is located. The graphics screen intended for the display is ultra-flat and can either be in colour or black-and-white, with the capability of varying the display brightness. The position of the on/off switch is such that the endurance of the power supply battery is considerably extended, since the system is powered only when it is in use. <IMAGE>
