A shaft for torque transmission, e.g. a motor vehicle propeller shaft having first and second parts (11,12) connected by a length-adjusting means, has a holding element which is not subject to torque, extending co-axially with the shaft. One end of the holding element is non-rotatingly connected to the shaft, and the other end of the holding element and the shaft part adjacent such other end having cooperating elements of indicating means for indicating shaft twisting under torque, the indicating means comprises a marking element (23) and a markable field (24) which is marked by the marking element at least when the shaft is subject to excess torque. The holding element may comprise a tube (18) covering the shaft (12), or an indicating shaft (32) within the torque-transmitting shaft. The indicating means may comprise scratching marks on a layer of paint, wax, or hard foam, or pins may be sheared off. <IMAGE> |
