A refractory sprayable material or unfired refractory moulding contains sintered magnesite and/or sintered dolomite as main refractory component, together with 0.5-5wt.% bentonite, 1-5wt.% aluminium sulphate and 0.5-5wt.% alkaline earth cpd., the novelty being that caustic magnesia (MgO which is not dead-burnt and which forms an alkaline suspension with water) and/or magnesium hydroxide is used as the alkaline earth cpd. |
