A node in the IP Multimedia Subsystem network receives (605) a Session Initiation Protocol message from a remote node. The message includes an indicator indicating the level of trust of a co mmunication sent from the remote node to the IP Multimedia 10 Subsystem node. The node can then apply (607) a security policy to the message, the securit y policy being determined by the indicator.
