A gas pistol, especially a sports pistol, has a compressed-gas reservoir (5) which is arranged under the barrel (2) and which is connected to the barrel rear end via a channel (10) closable by means of a valve (7). Furthermore, the pistol is equipped with a breech (8) guided in a housing (1) and retractable from the barrel rear end and with a trigger device (3) accommodated in the housing (1). The trigger device consists of a trigger lever (12) carrying the tongue (11), a trigger guard (14) interacting with the trigger lever, and a catch lever (15) restraining a spring-loaded striker (16) for valve actuation and engaged with the trigger guard (14) in the catch position. �So that the trigger lever (12) and tongue (11) can be brought as close as possible to the barrel (2), the valve (7) has a striking pin (18) guided preferably in a longitudinal rib (17) of the housing (1) rearwards beyond the tongue (11) to the striker (16). The trigger lever (12) is mounted above the striking pin (18) just below the guide (9) for the breech. At the same time, the trigger lever terminates upwards in two lateral legs (12a) located, if appropriate, on both sides of the longitudinal rib (17). ��
