Antilocking and antislip braking installation - has hydraulically-operated inlet valves which remain open for wheel-spin correction

The inlet valves (2,3) for the wheel-brakes are operated hydraulically while the venting valves (4,5) are electro-magnetic. The inlet valve (2) for the drive wheels is operated by both the master brake cylinder pressure and the servo pressure. This ensures that the valve is reduced to the control level when both systems operate, i.e. for braking, while for wheel-spin control only the servo pressure operates and the valve remains open. The undriven wheels' inlet valve is operated only by the servo pressure and closes when the ABS operates and when wheel-spin correction is applied, i.e. the undriven wheels are not braked for wheel-spin control. USE/ADVANTAGE - Simple wheel-spin control in ABS system; uses simple inlet valves.
