The electric motor has a permanent magnet rotor and 2-pole or 4-pole stator with T shaped stator poles (33, 34). Each of the stator laminations has a slit (40, 41) at the centre of each stator pole (33, 34) for providing resonance de-tuning. Pref. the slits (40, 41) project inwards from the outer edge of the stator pole (33, 34), extending radially along the symmetry axis (36) of the stator pole (33, 34). ADVANTAGE - Reduced operating noise.
