The flat component (4) has lugs formed on its upper cross ends, and is suitable to take in heat, and then, when absorption is complte, to release such heat extremely slowly. It is fitted at a suitable distance ahead of the chain face side on the vehicle. On the vehicle itself are counter lugs, and bolts engage through them and those on the flat component. The component (4) is pivotable in two directions (8) around the longitudinal axis of the bolts. In the operating position, the flat component hangs downwards vertically. When not required, it can be moved to a horizontal or upwardly vertical position where means are available to lock it. It is made of rubber or polyurethane. USE/ADVANTAGE - For military chain-propelled vehicles, to inhibit infra-red detection.
