Hinged flap for facilitating loading of railway wagon - actuates retractable supporting leg when brought into use

The low loading railway goods wagon has a hinged flap (18) at each end. This can support a load, such as a tractor as it is being loaded onto,or unloaded from, the wagon. It is passed over the end of the wagon. The flap (18) is supported by a retractable leg (5) which can be extended downwards to rest on the rail. This leg (5) is connected to the loading flap in such a way that when the loading flap (18) is swung to its load support position the supporting leg (5) is simultaneously extended. When the flap (18) is swung back to its travel position the leg (5) is simultaneously retracted. USE - Railway goods wagons.
