<p>The invention relates to the field of mother satellite buses in which various payloads are connected to standard mechanical and electrical interfaces. The prior art mother satellite buses are limited to only specialized payloads which were designed for that particular bus. The mother satellite bus (10) of the invention is comprised of a column (12) which has standard mechanical and electrical interface, solar panels (16) which provide power for the payloads (14) and low gain S-band antennae (18) which enable the payloads to have communication with geosynchronous satellites or earthbound ground stations. The mother satellite bus of the invention thus provides a way by which many subsidiary functionally related or unrelated payloads can be launched into orbit and provide data or services while sharing appropriate mother satellite bus functions.</p> |
