PURPOSE:To always generate excellent timing pulses irrespective of paper qualities of originals, by forming the main body and the guide part of a reader in one body and timing pulses generated at the guide part into electric signals at the main body. CONSTITUTION:The main body A and the guid part B of a reader are formed in one body, so that the main body is moved freely along the directin of subscanning, and, at the same time, an optical pattern 4 to be used for generating timing pulses is installed on a flat pattern forming plane 9 extended along the direction of subscanning from the guide part B. A light detecting part 5 is installed to the main body A and the light detecting part 5 moves along the direction of subscanning together with the main body A so that its sliding-contacting part 5e maintains an excellent contacting condition with the pattern forming plane 9 of the guide part B during the course of movement. Since the optical pattern 4 is read out under this condition, excellent timing pulses can be generated always. |
