The IC engine, esp. a radial engine, has a crankshaft which rotates about the axis (A). The crankshaft has a single crankpin (102) which is connected to the crankshaft by two webs (101). A circumferential groove (108) is formed in each web (101) at its junction with the crankpin (102). - Each piston is connected to a connecting rod (103) which has a concave end face (104) which forms a bearing. This bearing face (104) has a rib (105) which projects axially from each end. These ribs can be fitted in the circumferential groove (108) by means of an opening (111) in the groove wall (109). Each connecting rod can thus be connected to the crankshaft without requiring any additional fastenings.
