PURPOSE:To obtain in large quantities at low cost aromoline having various physiological activities such as vasodilative activity and antiallergic activity by separating and collecting aromoline from the enlarged or lumpy roots of Sinomenium diversifolium. CONSTITUTION:The enlarged or lumpy roots of Sinomenium diversifolium are e.g. dried and ground and then extracted with an organic solvent (pref. a lower alcohol, esp. methanol). The solvent is then distilled off, and the residue is extracted with an acidic aqueous solution of pH <= 3 (esp. aqueous citric acid solution) and an alkali (esp. ammonia) is then added to said aqueous solution to adjust the pH value to 9 - 10 followed by extraction with an organic solvent (esp. chloroform) again. If needed, the extract is further purified by e.g. chromatography to separate and collect aromoline from said roots, thus obtaining the objective aromoline in large quantities at low cost simultaneously from the above same tissue which has been cultivated for the purpose of extracting cepharanthine and isotetrandrine etc. |
