Umbrella for use in fixed position - is stable when open or when closed and requires no locking devices

The umbrella is installed in a fixed position and is supported on a fixed vertical tube (1). This fixed tube (1) forms a guide for an inner sliding tube (3) which has a fitting (12) attached to its upper end. Arms (5) which support the umbrella fabric, are pivoted to this fitting and are extended radially when the inner tube (3) is in its lowest position. In this position, the arms (5) are supported by struts (7) pivoted to a second fitting (9) which is attached to the outer tube (1). The umbrella is folded by pushing the first fitting (12) upwards by means of a rod (14) so that the arms (5) swing inwards. With this mechanism the umbrella is stable whether fully open or closed so no special locking devices are needed in either position. USE - Umbrella designed to be installed in fixed position.
