PURPOSE:To provide an antimicrobial agent composition containing stably dissolved iodine by adding a polyoxyalkylene ether or an ester type nonionic surfactant to a complex comprising the iodine and a quaternary ammonium salt. CONSTITUTION:An antimicrobial disinfectant agent composition exhibiting antimicrobial and antiviral activities comprises an insoluble quaternary ammonium salt-iodine complex formed from a quaternary ammonium salt of formula I (at least one of R1-R3 is 8-30C alkyl, alkenyl and the remaining groups are CH3, C2H5, group of formula II, etc.; R4 is CH3, C2H5; X<-> is anion) and iodine, polyoxyalkylene ether or ester type nonionic surfactant and a polymer type nonionic surfactant. The composition is stable even when stored for a long period of time, and exhibits remarkable antimicrobial and antiviral activities. |
