In laser diode transmitters for bit rates in the gigabit range, there exists the serious problem of impedance-matching the laser module over a broad frequency range with the laser driver via a waveguide. When the laser driver is terminated with a terminal resistor, division of the modulation current occurs and thereby a reduction in the modulation of the laser diode. According to the invention, the terminal resistor is replaced by a line network which has characteristic impedance shifts and thus produces reflections in the modulation current which, with suitable dimensioning, are added inversely to the reflections of the laser module to form a zero product. <IMAGE> |
