The machine tool for machining workpieces by rotating tools has a baseplate with a work table (2) to which the workpiece is fastened. This worktable can be moved in the longitudinal direction, that is in the direction of the X axis. The machine tool also supports two pillars (6) mounted in slides which can bemoved in the transverse direction, that is in the direction of the Y axis. Each pillar supports a spindle housing (8) with the spindle axis vertical. Each of these spindle housings can be moved vertically, that is in the Z direction, independently of each other.
