Laminated identification labels, each consisting of a label portion (1) and a self-copying checking portion (8), are mfd. by producing an adjusting edge (6) along a label strip (1) and a longitudinal folding groove (2) dividing the strip into a main portion with transverse identification fields (21-25) and a secondary portion (4) having a silicone strip (5) on its underside, producing a further adjusting edge (9) along a checking strip portion also having a silicone layer (15), and providing an adhesive layer (7) along the longitudinal folding groove (2) on the underside of the strip to enable it to be adhered to the top of checking portion strip with respective adjusting edges aligned and longitudinal perforations (10,11) on the checking strip aligned with opposite edges of the adhesive layer. The reverse side of the secondary portion of the label strip is provided with a further adhesive layer (18) cooperating with the silicone layer of the checking strip so as to leave an edge region without adhesive and the reverse side of the checking strip is provided with another adhesive layer (19) cooperates with the silicone layer (5) on the secondary portion of the label strip, the checking strip being turned over about the longitudinal perforation so that the main portion of the strip faces the secondary portion and the adhesive layers are bonded to the silicone layers. The main portion of the label strip is folded about the folding groove onto the already folded checking strip as well as being detachably connected to its secondary portion and the label is transversely cut into individual labels.
