PURPOSE:To improve the availability and the maintainability of a system by controlling a warning device in accordance with performance relation output information of a laser of an optical pickup and a forecasted performance recovery limit value and outputting information which indicates execution of maintenance. CONSTITUTION:TEO (initial ambient temperature), TAO (access time), TSO (initial seek time), MUO (initial data transfer time), NRO (initial turntable rotational frequency), LPO (initial laser power output), VPO (initial laser power reflection level), and TLO (initial laser diode temperature) of principal performance are read and are stored in the storage device of a host computer 7 or a drive 1 and a drive unit 2. If TEO is on the outside of standards, a warning sound is emitted from a speaker 10 and a warning is displayed on a display device 5 and a liquid crystal display device 8, and a blower is driven. If the ambient temperature does not fall regardless of this operation, a device is replaced. If TLO is on the outside of standards, a warning is given to replace an LD. If TAO is on the outside of standards, this state is displayed to terminate the processing. |
