PURPOSE:To allow the stable formation of images having specified image quality even if a fluctuation arises in a laser beam or developing system by measuring the line width and density of developed images and subjecting a photosensitive drum to full-surface exposing at a prescribed exposure in accordance with the result of this measurement and making development at the specified line width and density. CONSTITUTION:The relation between the results of the measurement and the exposure are previously stored in a ROM table or in the form of arithmetic equations in an exposure control section 15. The line width of the developed images of a test line formed on the photosensitive drum 1 is measured and the exposure of the full-surface exposing is determined from the measured line width and the memory means. The photosensitive drum 1 is subjected to the full-surface exposing by the set exposure before the exposing of the photosensitive drum by the laser beam or before the exposing and after the developing. The surface potential of the photosensitive drum by initial electrification is dropped overall in this way and the dot size of the latent images formed by laser exposing is made into the preset size. The deterioration in the images is thus obviated. |
