<p>The process is carried out in a reaction chamber in which the biologically active biomass is linked to a carrier material which is passed through the reactor in the manner of a circulating fluidised bed, is separated from the liquid and is returned to the reaction zone. This results in a particularly vigorous mixing so that the volume of the containers and of the complete system can be reduced compared with known biological processes while the efficiency is the same. <IMAGE></p>
