Panels, moulded elements or the like consisting of gypsum and lignocellulose-containing fibres are produced by mixing gypsum in a pourable state, such as gypsum powder, as hemihydrate with the fibres, shaping this mixture, compacting it and pressing it to give the mouldings. The gypsum hemihydrate is converted into dihydrate by means of water (H2O). The pressed mouldings are then dried by the action of heat. In detail, a dry mixture of the pourable gypsum (hemihydrate) and fibres is poured into the desired mould and then compacted. The water required for converting the gypsum is added in the form of steam during the compaction of the gypsum/fibre mixture.

|
