PURPOSE:To obtain the title foam excellent in the fluidity in the expansion with virtually uniform density through expansion and curing af room temperature by adding a foaming agent and acidic curing agent to a specific resol-type phenolic resin followed by expansion and curing. CONSTITUTION:The objective foam can be obtained by incorporating (A) a resol-type phenolic resin with (B) a foaming agent and (C) an acidic curing agent followed by expansion and curing. In this case, the component A is a resin 200-1000cPs in viscosity, 200-250 in average molecular weight, 8-15wt.% in free phenol level and 13-17wt.% in water content, which is prepared by reaction between (1) a phenol and (2) 1.3-1.45mols per mol of the component (1) of a formaldehyde in the presence of (3) 0.020-0.038mols per mol of the component (1) of an alkali metal (alkaline earth metal) hydroxide. |
