PURPOSE:To allow the formation of visible images having a desired density by using a toner carrying member which is formed with a very small closed electric field on the surface and attracts and carries an electrostatically charged toner on the surface and specifying the line speed of the surface of the toner carrying member and the line speed of a latent image carrying member. CONSTITUTION:The very small closed electric field is formed near the surface of the toner carrying member 5 by selectively holding an electric charge on the surface thereof and the electrostatically charged toner 4 is attracted by this closed electric field onto the surface, by which the toner 4 is deposited on the surface. The respective line speeds are so set as to satisfy equation I when the line speed on the surface of the toner carrying member 5 is designated as vd and the line speed on the surface of the latent image carrying member as vp. The high-quality visible images having the prescribed density free from scumming are obtd. in this way while the splashing or filming of the toner or the generation of the biasing of the toner to the rear end is suppressed. |
