PURPOSE:To secure proper speed reduction by computing acceleration based on generated torque and vehicle speeds, computing running resistance based on the aforesaid acceleration and generated torque, and vehicle weight, and automatically performing down shift to a gear shifting where the engine brake is applied when running resistance is less than a set value which is set up in advance in response to each step of gear shifting. CONSTITUTION:Generated torque by an engine is computed by an engine torque acceleration detecting means 9b based on throttle opening and engine revolutions. In the second place, acceleration is computed, so that running resistance is thereby computed by a running resistance detecting means 9c based on generated torque, vehicle speeds and vehicle weight as well. And when it is judged by a gear shifting step command means 9d as well. And when it is judged by a gear shifting step command means 9d that the aforesaid running resistance is less than a value set in advance by a gear shifting step, the gear shifting step command means 9d starts directing a gear shifting step command by which the specified engine brake is applied. |
