PURPOSE:To improve electromagnetic conversion characteristics, traveling stability and traveling durability for high density recording by forming a magnetic layer containing fatty acid and fatty acid ester of the magnetic coating liquid and fatty acid and fatty acid ester of an overcoating layer. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic coating liquid comprising dispersion of ferromagnetic powder, binder, fatty acid and fatty acid ester is applied on a nonmagnetic supporting body, and dried. Then fatty acid and fatty acid ester is applied thereon as a overcoating layer. Thus, the magnetic layer contains fatty acid and fatty acid ester of the coating liquid and fatty acid and fatty acid ester of the overcoating layer. Thereby, the obtd. medium has higher electromagnetic conversion characteristics, traveling stability and traveling durability. Especially, still durability is improved with reduction of video head clogging, and the medium has high traveling stability even after storage with lapse of time. |
