This invention relates generally to communications with distributed nodes in a computer network, and more specifically with change management in a computer network. An interface architecture allows an entry point in a systems network architecture (SNA) network to divide the SNA management services (SNA/MS) and SNA file services (SNA/FS) between the entry point and a sub-entry point. By off-loading part of the work from the entry point, less SNA entry point resources are used and the focal point of the SNA network is not affected at all.
