PURPOSE:To improve mechanical strength of colored zirconia sintered material by calcining a mixture prepared from a solution containing a stabilizer, a Zr compound and a Pr compound, blending the calcined material with a Zn compound to form ZnO by burning, then molding the blend and burning. CONSTITUTION:Given amounts of a stabilizer comprising a Y compound such as YCl3 or a Ce compound and a colorant comprising a Pr compound such as PrCl3 to become Pr6O11 after burning are dissolved in an aqueous solution of Zr compound such as ZrOCl2 to become ZrO2 after burning to give an acidic aqueous solution, which is added to NH3 water, etc., formed precipitate is filtered off, washed with water and dried. Then dried powder is calcined at 800-1,100 deg.C and then blended with a given amount of a Zn compound to form ZnO by burning as a sintering auxiliary, ground and molded under hydrostatic pressure. Then the molded article is sintered at 1,200-1,400 deg.C to give yellow ZrO2 sintered material containing 0.01-0.1mol% Pr6O11 and 0.1-0.6mol% ZnO based on ZrO2 containing the stabilizer. |
