PURPOSE:To obtain a sialon based sintered compact having excellent oxidation resistance, high-temperature strength and toughness by constructing a sintered compact of a respectively specified fine crystal having a fluorite type crystal structure, fine crystal having a common salt type crystal structure, sialon crystal, AlN polytype crystal and other phase. CONSTITUTION:The aimed sialon based sintered compact composed of a fine crystal expressed by formula I (RE is Ho, Er, Tm, Yb or Lu; M is Hf of Zr; -1<u<1) and having a fluorite type crystal structure, fine crystal expressed by the formula M'Nv (M' is Hf or Zr; 0.7<=v<=1.2) and having common salt type crystal structure, crystal of REalpha-sialon expressed by formula II (0<x<=1), crystal of beta-sialon expressed by formula III (0<z<=4.2), AlN polytype crystal of complex acid nitride containing Al and Si and crystal phase containing RE other than the above-mentioned crystal phase and/or glass phase. |
