An adapter (38) is disclosed for use in a power system (12) having a first powertrain (24, 26, 28) joined to a second powertrain (24, 26, 28) by a coupling (40). The adapter may have a generally cylindrical body (50) having a central bore (52) formed therein that is configured to receive a shaft (32) of the first powertrain, and splines (56) formed at an end of the central bore. The adapter may also have a connection keyway (58) formed within an outer annular surface (54) of the generally cylindrical body and configured to receive a key (62) that engages the coupling, and a balancing keyway (60) formed within the outer annular surface of the generally cylindrical body and configured to remain empty to balance the coupling. |
