PURPOSE:To obtain the subject fiber heat-treatable at a low-temperature and having excellent thermal bonding property especially to a non-polyolefin fiber by carrying out conjugate spinning of a specific ethylene copolymer and a specific thermoplastic resin in such as manner as to expose the ethylene polymer on the fiber surface. CONSTITUTION:The objective fiber suitable for the production of nonwoven cloth can be produced by the conjugate spinning of (A) an ethylene copolymer produced by copolymerizing (i) 5-30wt.% of an ethylenecarboxylic acid monomer consisting of 5-30wt.% of a (meth)acrylic acid ester and 0-10wt.% of (meth) acrylic acid and maleic acid and (ii) 95-70wt.% of ethylene and (B) a thermoplastic resin having a melting point of 130-270 deg.C (preferably polypropylene, etc.) under a condition to get a fiber in which the ethylene copolymer occupies at least a part (preferably >=30%) of the surface of the fiber and the conjugate ratio of (A/B) in the cross-section is preferably 30/70 to 70/30. |
