MAGNETIC TAPE SLITTING METHOD

PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of burrs by setting a space between the tape width directions of the cutting edges of both rotary blades in a specific range to the thickness of a magnetic tape. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic tape T containing a magnetic layer provided on the surface of a nonmagnetic body is continuously driven and at the same time slitted by a pair of upper and lower rotary blades 23 which have the rotary axial lines set approximately parallel to the tape surface and along the tape width direction and are overlapping with each other in their radius directions opposite to each other at both sides of the tape T. At this time, a space C secured between the tape width directions of the cutting edges of both blades 23 is set within a 3 - 20% range to the thickness of the tape T and slitted. Thus the burrs occurring at the tape fringes can be effectively prevented.
