<p>PURPOSE:To make it possible to easily confirm the status of an I/O signal in the inserted state of a module into a body as it is by converting an I/O signal into a serial signal in an expanded I/O module, converting the serial signal into a parallel signal and displaying the parallel data by an external checking display device. CONSTITUTION:A parallel/serial(P/S) conversion circuit 6 is connected to an input signal IF 4 in the expanded module 1 to convert a parallel input into a serial signal. The serial signal is supplied to the external confirming display device 12 through a connector 7 and a serial line 8. The device 12 is provided with an S/P conversion circuit 10 and the sent serial signal is converted into a parallel signal and an image based upon the parallel signal is displayed by LED display elements 13. Consequently, the use of a flat cable is made unnecessary, and plural expanded modules having different characteristics can be used only by one device 12. Similar effects can be obtained also for output signals by a system similar to the above one.</p> |
