The apparatus monitors the subcriber line all the time to check any abnormality. A main pulse generating means supplies pulses to drive the circuit and scan the time. A subscriber board monitors the subscriber line, and reports the result of the monitoring to a computer. A terminal section includes: a separate partial pulse generating section; and a tone transmitting section for transmitting carrier tones. The telephone line checking tones are transmitted from a main control section to the subsciber board, while the terminal board transmits carrier tones corresponding to the checking tones, so that the subcriber board judges the state of the subscriber line.
