Apparatus for the continuous separation of the liquid and solid phases of radioactive waste to be encapsulated, characterised in that it comprises: - a hopper which receives, at its top, the mixture of the liquid and solid phases, at least one wall of which hopper is fitted with a window closed by a filtering metal sheet; - a cylindrical pipe, emerging at the lower part of the hopper, including a feed screw system driven by a motor, the said pipe including, over part of its length, a window which is also closed by a filtering sheet and the surface area of which can be adjusted; - a tank for collection and removal of the liquid phase issuing from the hopper and from the cylindrical pipe; - in communication with the end of the cylindrical pipe, an apparatus for encapsulation of the solid phase leaving the feed screw system, in which this solid phase is intimately mixed with an encapsulation (solidification) matrix. <IMAGE>
