The relay has a two core (1,2) for the coil (3). The lower part of the core has a recess (4) as does the upper part, to form a space for the contact assembly. In the top unit are two pole plates (6,7) with a separating gap. Each plate has formed connectors (6b,7b) suitable for surface mounting. The armature element in the form of a pressing with a centre cantilever spring element (9a) that supports a bridging contact carrier (8a). When the coil is energised the bridging contact engages both plates.
