Material for freight carrier support surfaces, e.g. goods vehicles, shipping and aircraft loading bays, is a selaed warp knit woven ground fabric. The face of the material carries a layer of abrasive agglomerates, firmly anchored in place. Pref. the abrasive layer is formed by a layer of abrasive material and a coating over the abrasive layer. The fabric is sealed by a thermoplastic film as a cladding over the face of the material. A thermally hardening resin is applied over the whole of the material, to disperse within it, using a resin gp. of phenol, melamine-, latex-, epoxy-, acrylate- and mixts. The thermoplastic film is rated at 25-225 g/m2. A clinging adhesive is also applied to the reverse of the material. The fabric has a wt. of less than 550 g/m2, and is a warp knit produced by weft inserted weaving. The pref. thermoplastic film is of nylon. The abrasive agglomerate contains abrasive grains, held together by a bonding agent to form a shaped mass. ADVANTAGE - Floor covering or for cladding fork-lift load-carrying surfaces, etc. Prevents sliding action by the freight or personnel, with a long life and high resistance to abrasion and wear.
