Radio taxi communication method for direct ordering and confirmation - using digital data link between customer and vehicle terminals with transactions recorded for future billing

A customer orders a taxi by entering the required destination on a terminal (1), using the attached keyboard (2). Acceptance of the request is signalled by the driver using a similar in-car terminal. Communications may take place via a control centre which selects a currently available vehicle and records transactions for customer billing. ADVANTAGE - Improves vehicle utilisation by enabling sharing where customer journeys coincide. Reduces time required for vehicle request and confirmation. Enables payment through central data collection and regular billing.
