In an installation for electrostatically coating workpieces with electrically conductive coating material, an earthed supply system (1) and an intermediate container (B) to which a high voltage is constantly applied and which is connected to a spray device are continuously insulated from one another by a further intermediate container (A). The insulation distances between the insulating intermediate container (A) and the earthed supply system or the intermediate container (B) to which high voltage is supplied are smaller than the flash-over width of the applied high voltage, which is possible by virtue of the fact that after the respective intermediate containers (A, B) are filled, insulating shells are rotated into the respective distances.
