<p>Popcorn cakes are produced in equipment having a first baking head forming a prismatic recess, into which a second head is thrust. Heaters are provided for the heads, one at least of which is on the piston rod of a hydraulic ram fixed to the frame. Hydraulic controls move the rod between a first position, in which the heads are held by force one inside the other; a second in which they are moved apart but keep the recess shut; and a third, in which they are spaced apart. To move from the first to the second position, the fluid is discharged from the ram cylinder via a circuit of large free cross-section. The head coupled to the piston rod is e.g. aluminium alloy, clad on the face towards the other head with wear-resistant material, typically a steel cap.</p> |
