The height adjustable support for vehicle semi-trailers has a retractable support which carries a roll segment (22) on its underside end, rotatable about a horizontal axis. The roll segment can be rotated relative to a footplate (17), having at least one vertical plate (24) with an opening (25) in which a bolt (26) to hold the roll segment is located. The vertical adjustment is limited by upper and lower sections of the opening (27, 28) in the plate, which are central relative to the footplate. The sections (29, 30) of the opening bordering the upper and lower adjustment limits have diverging side walls. ADVANTAGE - Simplified construction, insensitive to fouling and therefore reliable operation.
