Dental bridge framework parts are made in the mouth on framework parts, or on working models using a paste-form hardenable mixt. of precious metal solder powder and a combustible binder. The solder powder is composed of (wt.%); Au 40-90; Ag 5-50; Pt or Pd 2-20; and Rh or Ir 0-10 and is of spherical or splinter shaped particles of average particle size 10-250 microns. The binder is a wax or thermoplastic which softens on heating. The hardenable solder is applied via a spray nozzle, then in the second stage a fixing paste is applied. This is a fibrous structured material based on Al2O3 and stable up to 1300 deg.C, which when mixed has a highly tenacious consistency and hardens on drying. The fixing paste is applied in strand form from a nozzle (dia. 1.5mm) to mechanically retain the framework and make it stress free. USE/ADVANTAGE - Simple and economic method, avoids the labour intensive features of other processes, also avoids high mechanical pressure, point welding, and a stressed structure. |
