The appliance is used for laying large paving slabs. It has a mast (3) which is mounted on a frame (2) and supported by at least three struts (4) attached to feet (1). The mast (3) has a horizontal arm (A) mounted on its upper end. This arm (A) can be swung about the vertical axis of the mast (3). A carriage (14) runs on a rail (10) attached to the arm (A). This carriage (14) carries a winch (27) driven by a motor (21). The load is attached to the strap (29) which can be wound on to the winch (27). USE - laying paving stones.
