A nut runner 500 comprises a plurality of sockets 501 for holding wheel attachment nuts 502 to be screwed on to wheel attachment bolts 60 on a wheel attachment member, for example a vehicle hub 6, a plurality of motors 504 for rotating the respective sockets 501, a plurality of drive shafts 517 coupled to the motors 504, and a plurality of universal joints 518 connecting the sockets 501 and the drive shafts 517 while allowing the sockets 501 to be tilled with respect to the drive shafts 517. The universal joints 518 are movable axially of the drive shafts 517 to allow the sockets 501 to be retracted under reactive forces produced when the nuts 502 engage the wheel attachment bolts 60. <IMAGE> |
