Two plates covered with photovoltaic cells are arranged parallel to each other on each ring (16) of a chain supported at a slight angle to the vertical by cables (13,14) anchored (12) to a foundation (11) in the ground (2). The cable ends are secured by helical springs (15) to the shorter limb (10) of a support (5) grounded (4) behind a low wall (1). The plates can be tilted to compensate for changes in the elevation of the sun. USE/ADVANTAGE - Esp. for recharging the batteries of electrically-propelled vehicles. Optimal current output is delivered for the instantaneous demand for recharge.
