Automated serial number generation for vehicle assembly

The system comprises a first computer which creates frame number groups according to an assigned production schedule comprising production ratios of various model cars to be produced. A second computer takes these frame numbers and organizes them according to the production ratio and serialized numbers to be stamped; and a stamping machine displays and stamps the serialized frame numbers automatically on frame components. Accordingly, the operator is able to check the frame numbers easily with minimum human errors so as to preserve data integrity and avoid stamping errors. This system is also applicable to mixed production of large numbers of models using a common assembly line. Separate groups of frame number data can be integrated by operator intervention, including the possibility of "shelving" (deleting) certain groups of numbers.
