The present invention relates to the technical field of input methods. Disclosed are a method and device for input method cursor operation. Per the method for input method cursor operation of the present invention, in an interface of a common candidate word selection mode of an input method, monitoring of a slide event received in an input method area is allowed, a determination is made on whether nor not the received slide event satisfies a preset criterion, if the slide event satisfies the preset criterion, then enter an edit string cursor slide mode, and the cursor is controlled on the basis of the slide event to move in an edit string, or, a determination is made on whether or not the received slide event satisfies another preset criterion, if the slide event satisfies the present criterion, then enter a candidate item cursor slide mode, and the cursor is controlled to move among candidate items on the basis of the slide event. The present invention facilitates a user in controlling, on the basis of a slide operation in an input method, the cursor of the input method to move in an edit string or among candidate items without affecting the line of sight of the user, thus providing the advantageous effect in which the user is allowed to position the cursor with improved precision. |
